Picking up where amazing left off (as Apple puts it), the iPhone 4s now finally begins its conquest in Malaysian soil with its dual-core A5 chip for gamers, 8MP all-new optics camera that shoots out 1080 HD video, and ten other major improvements from its predecessor, the iPhone 4. We don’t need to elaborate more about the add-ons of this new eye candy, but seriously, if there is anything else you need to know about your iPhone 4s, feel free to ask Siri, the built-in intelligent AI butler of the iPhone 4s.
Two major network providers that serve as bastions of these new gadgets clashes head on with each other for perhaps the greatest ‘chip wars’ in the technological history of Malaysia as a jam-packed crowd patiently awaits for the unveiling of one of the biggest tech releases of the century. But before you get too excited, you might want to calm down a bit since there is this talk of the town today, albeit unconfirmed still, that these two giant telecom providers, Maxis and DiGi, will be clearing out their closets first of their large stocks of iPhone 4 before they would be launching the iPhone 4s.
Hence, we would be expecting a quite rapid adjustments on the prices of older iPhone 4 versions that are on sale on Malaysia today, perhaps, an approach of these companies to clear out their old stocks fast. For example, Maxis is offering iPhone 4 to its clients on different discount forms on holidays such as Hari Raya, and both companies are even expected to do more promotional stints all throughout the December holiday.
It is expected then that before the year ends or by the start of next year, shopping malls and shelves of Maxis and DiGi would be filled with these white and black eye candies. But before you rush into the malls and buy your dream phones, be sure first to evaluate from which network provider company you are going to obtain these iPhones.
But there is really a big question that everyone wants to ask right now and perhaps you might be asking this question ever since the rumors about iPhone 4s spread: “How much?” Fanboys and fangirls, we have confirmed the iPhone 4s prices of both companies today. Prices seemed to be changing on variables for weeks now and it’s just recently that it has come to a constant report. Compare the prices now and select the network you want to have.
DiGi Price: The More Affordable Package
Pricing plans of DiGi and Maxis differ by miles on every aspect there is of the phone from the handset itself to the type of plan clients can enjoy from it. DiGi offers the iPhone 4 at RM2,390 at 32 GB of data, flat free across all plans.
Also, the iDiGi 138 plan that DiGi offers to its customers cost RM83 a month with a 3GB offered data plan plus 400 SMS and 40 MMS package. It also bills at 12 sen/min for voice calls. These prices are generally lower compared to what Maxis offers as what we would be viewing later on.
Maxis Prices: The High End Price
Maxis has a quite complex scheme when it comes to the plans that they offer. Currently, they offer five plans for 24 months of conract, ranging from the lowest price of RM79 to the highest plan of RM375 a month. Maxis’ iPhone price is about RM1,500 for 24 months contract at the monthly price of RM100.
Maxis’ iValue plan charges its clients around RM100 at 1GB data plan (compared to RM83 per month of iDiGi at 3GB plan) but with 333 minutes of talk time. Its SMS and MMS package is also lower at 200 and 20 respectively compared to the 400 and 40 of DiGi.
With this we can see that both Maxis and DiGi differ in prices and data plan significantly including the MMS and SMS packages.
The Verdict Lies Upon The Buyers
Even with the difference of prices between the two, it is still up to the buyers from which company they might want to avail of their iPhone 4s. There are also a lot of factors to consider on which company to buy. At the end of the day it does not solely depend on the price but also with the name and the trust a buyer has to the company. After all, an astronomical difference in the prices might also implicitly mean a big difference in the kind of customer care or network services you would be enjoying later. We recommend that buyers consider the services first and the performance of the company then the prices that each company offers. It is solely up to the clients on what kind of plan to avail at the end.
